Andria Marquez believes family law should be about more than winning the next argument. It should be about helping people make good decisions during one of the most consequential and often most overwhelming periods of their lives.
That philosophy shapes the way she practices. Andria is practical, candid, and strategic with her clients. Sometimes that means fighting hard. Sometimes it means telling a client that a particular fight is likely to cost more (in money, time, or peace) than it is worth. She sees her job as helping clients understand the difference.
Andria has practiced family law exclusively since beginning her legal career in Charlotte in 2016. She represents clients in matters involving separation, divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, and other complex family law issues. She is particularly drawn to cases that require thoughtful strategy and a clear understanding of the bigger picture: not simply how to resolve the legal dispute in front of her, but how the decisions being made today may affect her client and their family years from now.
Her approach is resolution-focused, but never resolution-at-all-costs. Andria strongly believes that families are often better served when they can maintain some control over the outcome of their cases, and she regularly helps clients resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, and collaborative divorce. But she is equally comfortable in the courtroom when litigation is necessary. She believes the best family lawyers know both how to keep a case out of court and when it is time to go there.
Clients can expect Andria to be straightforward with them. She does not believe every disagreement needs to become a battle, and she will say so. But when something truly matters to a client’s children, financial security, or ability to move forward, she is equally clear about when it is time to stand firm. Her goal is not simply to get a client through a case. It is to help that client make decisions they will still feel good about after the case is over.
Long before Andria became a family lawyer, she understood that families do not always look the way they started. As the youngest of five children in a blended family, she grew up knowing that divorce, remarriage, and changing family dynamics do not necessarily mean the end of a family. Sometimes they simply mean that a family has to learn how to look different.
Becoming a wife and mother of three has deepened that perspective. Family law decisions do not exist only in courtrooms or legal documents. They affect school mornings and bedtime routines, holidays and vacations, bank accounts and homes, and all the ordinary moments that make up a family’s life. Andria never loses sight of the fact that while a divorce or custody case may eventually close, her clients will continue living with the decisions made during it.
That is one of the reasons Andria is particularly passionate about collaborative divorce and other processes that allow families to resolve their differences outside of court when appropriate. She has served in leadership with Charlotte Collaborative Divorce Professionals and works alongside other family law, financial, and mental health professionals to promote thoughtful approaches to separation and divorce.
Andria earned her law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. While in law school, she served as a Guardian ad Litem through Wake Forest’s Child Advocacy Clinic and, upon graduation, received the North Carolina Chapter Law Student Award from the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
She has been recognized by North Carolina Super Lawyers as a Rising Star each year from 2020 through 2026 and was named a Young Gun by Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite in 2023.
Outside the office, Andria spends most of her time with her husband and their three children. Her life, like the lives of many of her clients, is full, busy, frequently rescheduled, and centered around family. That reality keeps her grounded in what she believes good family law representation should ultimately accomplish: helping people protect what is important, make sound decisions during a difficult chapter, and move forward into whatever comes next.
